It's official! Mari Selvaraj's latest political thriller Maamannan is all set to drop on OTT on July 27. The film's official digital partner, Netflix made the announcement on its social media handle today, along with the caption, "VADIVELU, UDHAYANIDHI, FAHADH, KEERTHY, MARI SELVARAJ AND AR RAHMAN TOGETHER!! We’re seeing stars Maamannan, coming to Netflix on the 27th of July! (sic)." The film will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
The engaging political drama, which hit screens on June 29, opened to positive reviews from critics and audience alike. Vadivelu plays Maamannan, an MLA from an oppressed community, who stands up against caste discrimination meted out against him after his son Athiveeran (Udhayanidhi Stalin) urges him not to compromise on self-respect. This makes the caste-fanatic politician Rathnavelu (Fahadh Faasil) upset and soon the two are up in arms against each other.
